What is fear?
We've all been scared of something at some stage. Fear is a normal response and a very healthy response to keep us safe. It engages the fight or flight response within the body sending energy to all the areas and organs that need it at that time...to keep you safe. What happens when this fear/phobia response is out of proportion to the event taking place? Let's face it, it's not very often we find ourselves face to face with sabre tooth tiger these days...but sometimes our bodies FEEL like they have! And sometimes 'feel the fear and do it anyway' is impossible! (and can also re-traumatise) This can be very debilitating and have a detrimental effect on our normal day to day living. F: False E: Evidence A: Appearing R: Real People experience such a wide variety of fears. Fear of: Birds, spiders, snakes, mice, visits to the dentist or a hospital, vomiting, needles, flying, heights, public speaking etc. The list goes on. And sometimes you just know these fears are irrational, but no matter how much you tell yourself it is ok, your body responds differently. The good news is, these fears and phobias can be eliminated allowing you to enjoy life. Life can be hard enough without entertaining unnecessary or exaggerated fears or anxieties! Don't let fear stand in the way of your dreams! Most fears and phobias can be eliminated after 1-4 sessions. Testimonial (after one session) "Hi Justine, just checking back in to let you know that I drove over Westgate bridge last night. I haven't travelled over that way since I went with my sister early last year, so haven't been able to test myself. Still amazed by the result. Many thanks once again." PC, Cockatoo |
