What is anxiety?

Anxiety in the form of stress is a normal and natural state, and serves a very helpful purpose.....some of the time.
It's when this anxiety reaches levels that are disproportionate to the event that is being experienced or to be experienced, things become problematic. Anxiety basically stems around thoughts of the future. And these thoughts of the future are based on experiences from the past. If there have been unresolved negative experiences from the past the body will get anxious when a similar situation/event is to take place. History dictates this will be unpleasant!! But this does not have to be the case.
For some, thoughts tend to take off and catch a train that is bound for disaster (so it seems) and the more you try and stop the thoughts, the faster they seem to travel and will even pick up more stressful thoughts as passengers!  The thought train flys past each station, gathering more and more thought passengers which become reasons why things just have to turn out bad/unpleasant/wrong/not how you want.

How can Hypnosis help?
Hypnosis can help s l o w  d o w n  t h e  t r a i n  and the thoughts. By teaching you techniques to calm the mind (the body will follow) and help give the mind a new perspective on things. And giving you tools to help manage anxiety. Also releasing any old, outdated emotions or patterns from the past brings about change in the present, which impacts your views of your future.

Most anxiety can be better managed, reduced or even removed after 4-6 sessions. (sometimes less!)
Massage, yoga and meditation are all helpful in reducing/managing stress and anxiety.
Emotions can be stored in the body and finding a good, qualified massage therapist can help with release.

I personally recommend Chris Rowden, in Belgrave, who uses a variety of techniques for tight, sore, stiff muscles and injuries.

What is depression?

Feeling low and or sad is a normal part of being human. Sometimes these feelings go on for an extended periods of time or can become overwhelming.
Feelings of helplessness, and hopelessness are often experienced. Some say they feel like they are in a deep, dark, black hole with no way out.
Depression can be debilitating and impact on all areas of our life; work, family, relationships.
Everything can feel like a challenge, even just getting out of bed. There's little or no joy and only dismal things to look forward to. Thoughts usually revolve around (and continue to revolve around) things, events and people from the past.
For some their sleeping is impacted, perhaps sleeping more, perhaps not being able to sleep.
Others may still be able to hold down a job and seem 'normal' to those around them. All the while they are constantly living with painful feelings of despair or worse.
Some will retreat from family and friends not wanting to 'inflict' their constant miserable mood onto others. This leads to more and more isolation...isolation with their own thoughts that continually cause unpleasant, if not horrible, inescapable feelings.

All of our beliefs and sensory experiences are stored in our subconscious mind. All of them. By accessing the subconscious mind situations unresolved from the past can be viewed differently, changing the belief around the event or situation and releasing all the emotions associated with it.
We often carry around old emotions and patterns that may be holding us back and no longer serving us. The job of the subconscious mind is to keep us safe, and it can be very creative in doing so. Unfortunately methods that were very effective earlier in our life (perhaps even childhood) are no longer effective in our adult stage of life. And they begin to impact us in negative ways. This is when it comes time to change these patterns and behaviours. And that is all it is... change.
